Former seventeenth century captain of the Dutch West Indies Company, Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness, now from a parallel dimension, encounters the beautiful agent during an unearthly storm in the Bermuda triangle. Drawn to the Spanish beauty he rescues, he pledges his assistance, despite her reluctance to accept either his help or his heart.

Can Wolf bridge both space and time to claim the woman he loves?

Excerpt:

“Are you going to answer the question, or are you not?” he quipped, ignoring her comment altogether.

“Ooh! Tu’ eres el hombre más exasperante que he tenido la desgracia de conocer!” she huffed as she folded her arms and slammed them hard against her chest.

“Sorry?” His eyes danced with sudden merriment, while his lips twitched in amusement. “I didn’t quite catch all that!”

In response to his mirth, she once again clenched her teeth. She could feel her cheeks flame as she jerked a pointed a finger toward his chest. “I said, you are the most exasperating man I’ve ever had the misfortune—”

The moment she drove her finger forward, her words abruptly ended and so did his mirth.

Aliyana touched the tip of her tongue to her lips as she stared at what she could see of her finger. She slowly withdrew it from inside his chest, gazed at the digit, repeated her actions once more, and then gazed into his sky-blue eyes.

“Aliyana,” Wolf whispered. “Don’t be afraid of me. This isn’t what you think.”

She struggled to make sense of this new quandary. Her bewildered gaze shifted to his arms that still held her fast, traveled their length, and then rose to his face. Her lovely eyes, filled with such delightful indignation a moment ago, now held a trace of apprehension.

“Who are you?” she asked in a voice just audible to his ears. “Better yet, what are you?”

Interview With The Author!

Where does you inspiration come from?

For me, inspiration can come from any number of sources. For instance, the idea for Shadow of the Witte Wieven was born when I came across a breathtaking painting of a lightning storm over the ocean. More often than not though, I’ll see some kind of a “movie snippet” inside my head. I’ll take that snippet and extend it in all directions to create a story…if that makes sense.

Would you ever want to change genres and if so what would you like to experiment with?

I am a romantic at heart and therefore, I would probably always have to write some kind of romance.

Nonetheless, writing a book or books in each of the sub-genres would be fun and challenging. So don’t be surprised if in the future I accept that challenge…

Are your characters/ideas drawn from people that you know personally in any way?

I have to say that all of my heroes have a little bit of my husband in them. Even so they, as well as all my other characters come to life with personalities and traits all of their own making. I’ve learned to accept that from them. After all, they can be rather bossy, even the minor characters…

Where would you like to be in 10 years with life or career?

I’m still going to be writing because it’s just something I love doing. Along with that, I hope each book I write is better than the last.

What book or books are you reading now?

Right now I am delving into the classics because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Currently I am reading “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.

What do you do with your free-time when you are not writing or brain-storming?

I have a passion for genealogy. I love finding out about my ancestors and the lives they led, especially those who immigrated to the United States. I believe it took a great deal of courage to leave family, friends and all you know behind for something hoped for, but truly unknown. What an adventure, right?

What is your fondest memory from childhood that left an impact on your life?

Now there are too many of those to count or to decide which is best. But one that comes readily to mind is the summer I spent on our 1500 acre family ranch. The endless days were filled with sunshine, magical wonders provided by the river, giant cottonwood trees, varying landscapes and the freedom to explore them all. That experience fed my imagination and more than likely fostered my love for conjuring stories.

Debbie has always had a soft spot for fairy tales, the joy of falling in love, and happily ever after endings. Stories of love and make believe filled her head for as long as she can remember.

However, it was her beloved husband who encouraged, cajoled and inspired her to take up a pen and write some of them down. In 2012, The Wild Rose Press published her first novel, “Spirit of the Rebellion.”

When she’s not busy conjuring her latest novel, Debbie spends time with the members of her very large family. She also pursues her interests mythology, and all things ancient and historic.

  1. It sounds like a very nice read.

    • I really enjoyed reading the 1st Edition. And after hearing that there was a 2nd Edition that ties in the prequel, “Van Locken’s Witch”, I am looking forward to reading them both, to see how they tie in together and the changes that were made in “Shadow Of The Witte Wieven”.
